Jim White is the senior partner of How Lawrence White Bowes. He has been a member of the bar of Nova Scotia for nearly 25 years. As a university professor, journalist, editor, politician and business executive, Jim has a broad range of legal and corporate experience.

In early 2000 Jim was appointed a director of the Workers' Compensation Board of Nova Scotia and currently chairs the Audit & Finance Committee of the Board. Clients often find Jim's well established professional and business connections highly beneficial.
 
 
Jim is a graduate of Dalhousie Law School and has an HBA and MBA from the Ivey School of Business Administration at the University of Western Ontario where he is a member of the Permanent Honor Society. He is currently President of the Ivey School Atlantic Alumni Association. He taught business policy, corporate finance and business and its environment and was acting director of the MBA program at St. Mary's University. He has also taught courses at Mount Saint. Vincent, Kings College, UNB Saint John and for the Canadian Bankers Association and the Canadian Institute of Management.

Most recently he has been actively involved in the issue of national gas distribution in Atlantic Canada acting for consortiums seeking a distribution franchise.

Active in the community Mr. White is past president of the Windsor Rotary Club, the PC Party of Nova Scotia, the Hants County Barristers' Society and Avon Valley Golf & Country Club. He was a member of the Bar Council of Nova Scotia, the governing body of the profession. He has also been a board member of the Saint John Port Development Authority, St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation, Junior Achievement of Northern Alberta, the Canadian Printing Industries Association and the United Way.

Married with three children Jim's hobbies include golf, fishing and farming. In 1993 he retired after nearly 25 years as a football official, a career which included twice being head referee of the Atlantic Bowl.
